Leaders Preparatory School Bullying / Cyber Bullying Policy

Leaders Preparatory School has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to bullying and/or cyber bullying of any nature.

It is the policy of the LPS to maintain an educational environment in which bullying and/or cyber bullying in any form are not tolerated. All forms of bullying and/or cyber bullying are prohibited. Anyone who engages in bullying and/or cyber bullying in violation of this policy shall be subject to appropriate discipline. Students who have been bullied and/or cyber bullied shall promptly report such on-campus incidents to an administrator, teacher, counselor or staff member.

The LPS policy applies to bullying and/or cyber bullying incidents that occur on campus and during school operating hours. Thus, LPS does not regulate students' off-campus online/social media behaviors. Parents are strongly advised to monitor their child(ren)'s online/social media behaviors at home to ensure their safety and security.

Bullying shall mean unwelcome verbal, written or physical conduct directed at a student by another student that has the effect of:

  1. Physically, emotionally or mentally harming a student;

  2. Damaging, extorting or taking a student’s personal property;

  3. Placing a student in reasonable fear of physical, emotional or mental harm;

  4. Placing a student in reasonable fear of damage to or loss of personal property; or

  5. Creating an intimidating or hostile environment that substantially interferes with a student’s educational opportunity.

Cyber bullying includes, but is not limited to, the following misuses of technology/ harassing, teasing, intimidating, threatening, or terrorizing another student or staff member by way of any technological tool, such as sending or posting inappropriate or derogatory email messages, instant messages, text messages, digital pictures or images, or website/social media postings which has the effect of :

  1. Physically, emotionally or mentally harming a student;

  2. Placing a student in reasonable fear of physical, emotional or mental harm;

  3. Placing a student in reasonable fear of damage to or loss of personal property; or

  4. Creating an intimidating or hostile environment that substantially interferes with a student’s educational opportunity.

Each staff member shall make every effort to maintain an educational environment free of bullying and cyber bullying and each student shall be responsible to respect the rights of his/her fellow students and to ensure an atmosphere free from all forms of bullying and cyber bullying.

We will continue to do our part to monitor and reinforce positive behavior here at LPS. We ask that you please reinforce proper behavior by speaking with your children and by monitoring their online and/or other interactions at home, and by encouraging them to report any incident of concern should they experience it at school.
